Hannah is the owner of a growing market research business that has now been going for over 6 years. She has a complement of permanent staff although this can change when workload requires. She also uses contractors for some specialist client projects. She has an office manager who also does some basic book-keeping, however she still has the need to pay for an accountant to provide the necessary services to stay compliant and deal with the more complex tasks such as payroll and tax returns.
The financial reporting that is done in-house is also fairly antiquated and perhaps doesn’t project the business in the best light or give her the confidence that she is making the best decisions possible. It would also make her office manager more efficient and allow her to spend more time on proposals and customer relations.
The idea of monthly management accounts is appealing, as long as the information is useful and allows her to make decisions. She likes being able to pick the phone up to the accountant to ask questions on things she doesn’t understand, and usually to make sure that she is being as tax efficient as possible. She understands that as the business continues to grow she may need to add further finance support, but if there is a solution that negates this for the time being and improves efficiency and saves money then she is all ears!
